What a year it's been for beauty! From crazy contouring, to Kylie Jenner lip challenges, to strobing, to 'no-makeup' make-up - to name just a few! since we're coming to the end of the year, I thought this week I would share with you my TOP 10 beauty products of 2015. I first thought I would just do my top 5, but I had so many to choose from I increased it to 10, but even then I struggled! I have broken them down into categories (skin, eyes, multi purpose and brows) so here they are (in no particular order) : SKIN
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit (Light-Medium) I definitely gave into the hype when I bought this product, so I was almost certain I wouldn't be disappointed… and I wasn't!! I cannot get enough of all the shades in this kit, it has the most perfect undertone of browns and yellows to really contour pale to asian skin tone perfectly. Super easy to blend into the skin to give that real flawless contour without looking like theres a line going across your face. 'Fawn' is a brilliant shade to begin the contouring process, or if your were going for a light contour (if you have asian/olive skin) The highlighter powders are really brightening and doesn't look chalky on the skin. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the dry finish it left on the under-eye area. After an hour or so I started to see lines underneath my eyes from the yellow highlighter powder. I use something else for just that area now, but I use this for every other part of the face. - Ben Nye Banana Powder I use this powder for 2 things- to put on top of concealer to prevent creasing, as well a face powder (not so much for highlighting). BEST powder to use if you want to avoid lines underneath your eyes, what would I do without it?!. I don't usually use this product for 'baking' as i feel like its too much hassle on a booking and its always go-go-go, but I have seen it does a good job. - Le Mer Eye Concentrate BY FAR the best eye cream I have ever come across. I have tried Estee Lauder 'Advanced Night Repair' eye gel and M.A.C. Fast Response Eye Cream in the past and I have to say, they worked brilliantly in the beginning, but now it just doesn't do what I want it to do. The Eye Concentrate not only keep my concealer looking smooth and flawless throughout the day, but I have noticed it has reduced my dark circles a little. Whatever the 'miracle broth' has in it, its working for me! The only downside is that it is pretty pricey.. at £140 a pop, you will make sure it lasts you a long as possible. - M.A.C. Cosmetics Prep+Prime Highlighter Pen ('Peach Lustre' and 'Light Boost') I have previously mentioned these magic pens in my 'colour correcting' post as it works wonders for reducing dark circles before you apply your concealer. Peach Lustre is a peachy/orangey shade that I use on all my clients without fail. It looks scary first and my clients frequently ask what the hell I'm doing putting orange concealer underneath their eyes, but with the right concealer shade, your dark circles will disappear just like that! Super easy to apply onto the skin, and its non-greasy formula means that it wont be sliding around when you're layering the concealer and highlighting products. 'Light Boost' is a pale yellow shade which is I use on myself when I want that clean bright highlighted look. Again, its not greasy and feels really light on the skin. Once it dries, it sticks and you don't have to worry about it the whole day. EYES - KIKO Cosmetics Precision Liner - You all know how much a freakin' love this liquid liner, I've reiterated this like a 100 times! This liner is BLACK (not watery black), matte, SO easy to control even when your attempting a really sharp feline look, and for under £6 its an absolute bargain. - Star Crushed Minerals 'Halo Glitters' The choice of colours would just make you go insane! You just want to buy all of them! I randomly discovered SCM on Instagram as I was ready to build my glitter collection just in time for wedding season. I cannot believe how bright and sparkly these were when I first used them, and how easy they were to use (I bought their glitter glue too). The coloured glitters are so pigmented too so you can really see a nice rich colour on the lids, and I love how some glitters have about 3/4 different colours all mixed together so you can catch certain colours in certain lights. I was surprised how evenly the glitter would apply on the lid, without it being too sticky or just messy to use. Really reasonably priced too, they had 50% off so I got each pot for $3.50 which is like £2! Have a look at my previous blog post if you want to see me experimenting with the glitters. - Bobbi Brown Long Wear Pencil liner This liner does not budge which is the main reason why it is in my top 10. The amount of times I purchased 'smudge-free' liner and low and behold, they always used to SMUDGE! The last thing you want to hear from your bride when she's been tearing up on her big day. Pigment is strong so you don't have to worry about going over it 5 times. MULTI-PURPOSE - M.A.C. Cosmetics Fix+ Spray This spray is so multi-purpose I didn't know what to put it under! Apart from doing the obvious thing of fixing your make-up so it lasts the whole day, it helps eyeshadows look really pigmented by just spraying the brush first (which I always do), and it also helps glitter set and stick on the lid too. Cant live without this product, thats why its in definitely made the list! - M.A.C. Cosmetics Extra Dimension Eyeshadow 'Sweet Heat' Is it a highlighter, is it an eyeshadow - you decide! I just recently discovered using this product as a highlighter when I couldn't get hold of 'Oh Darling' highlighter from M.A.C. Just one small sweep of this stuff will change your highlighter game forever! See my previous post for pictures and full review of this product. BROWS - Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade 'Chocolate' I am sooooo late to jump on the brow pomade bandwagon as I just recently purchased this product a few week ago! I can't believe how natural my brows looked with this thick consistency. The perfect shade of brown to match my brows, and when this product dries it doesn't go anywhere! perfect for brides :) This water-resistant product is definitely worth purchasing once you've got the hang of using brow products. If you're a beginner, start with the ABH pencils, and move onto the pomade.
