Bronze me up Baby!

11/22/2015

I am SUPER annoyed!! I was ready to make my video tutorial debut but due to technical issues which I've been trying to sort out the entire day, I have finally accepted defeat so therefore Im not going to be able to show you my 'Bronze me up baby!' video tutorial today :(
Although my main purpose of the day was to show and teach you how I created this bronzed look via video, I'm not going to miss and waste a week of blogging so I thought I'd at least show you the completed look, a step-by-step of what and when to use the products, and of course a full product list.
Picture
Step 1- Apply your foundation and concealer normal. Using a luminous foundation will give you a really nice glow
Step 2 - Use a light almost ashy coloured brown powder such as Anastasia Beverly Hills contour colour 'fawn' in the hollow of your cheeks and brushing right up to the upper cheekbones towards your temples. Use a medium sized powder brush.
Step 3 - Using a darker powder (I used Havana and Java from Anastasia Beverly Hills) apply that downwards from the bottom of your actual cheekbone to your cheeks (you can see where I've applied the darker colour on the image above). Use a small powder brush, making sure its a bit dense so it can give a strong contoured line. Then use a new powder brush to soften the line and its nice and blended.
Step 4- Grab your favourite bronzer and apply it on your cheekbones and all the edges of your face (I used Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Bronzing Powder)
Step 5 - Use a highlighter powder (I used Ben Nye Banana Powder if your olive/dark skin or Nars translucent loose powder for paler skin tones) and apply from the under eye area all the way down to next to the nose and then all the way up to your upper cheekbones. Also use the same powder and apply it underneath the contour. This will make your cheekbones more prominent! Use a medium sized powder/blush brush
Step 6 - With a fan brush, get the shiniest highlighter powder you have (I used M.A.C. Cosmetics 'Global Glow' Mineralize powder and Bobbi Brown '24 Karat' Shimmer Brick) and lightly brush but build up just on the upper cheekbone and brush upwards towards the temple.

Voila! Le Bronzed Goddess :)

Dramatic Smokey Eye Make up Tutorial

Its that time of year again where we get those reds/burgundys/golds/browns colours, and most importantly GLITTER out to play! This is one thing that excites me about this season as I absolutely love putting on a signature dark burgundy lip or adding a little bit of sparkle on the eyes! Don't see winter as the 'pale and pasty' season, embrace this time to experiment with all sorts of glitters and gorgeous warm colours (all in time for your office xmas party!).
So this week I thought I'd give you a step by step tutorial with full product list of how I created this dramatic smokey look. I have used pinks, purples and blues as I felt these would compliment my eye colour but of course you can choose colours of your choice or whatever eyeshadows you have already, all you have to do is follow the same technique! Sellotape is such a life-saver for dramatic eye make up - gives a defined feline look, as well as making it so easy to peel off all the fall-out from the eyeshadows. But this is optional!

  • Step 1
Firstly, I have applied a skin-coloured eye base (M.A.C. 'Painterly' paint pot) Apply it all the way up to your brow. . This helps neutralise any darkness/purpleness/redness around the eye so when you apply your eyeshadow, it will really pop!
  • Step 2
Use a warm pink coloured eyeshadow (I used 226 Infinity high pigmented eyeshadow by Kiko Cosmetics) in your crease and then brush upwards lightly towards your brow bone. If you see any harsh lines, use a transparent powder and brush onto the lines until it is all blended and you can't see the lines anymore).
  • Step 3
Pick a darker shade to what you put in the crease and apply this colour mostly on the outer edges of the eye, brushing it a little into the crease (I used 'Blackberry' by Smashbox Cosmetics) Don't worry if it goes onto the lid, it will be covered by glitter anyway. To make the outer crease really intense, pat the darker shadow in just that area. You can also use a bit of black shadow too to make it even more intense!

Picture
  • Step 4
You can use any shade on the lid as long as its bright. I have used a violet colour ('Grifter' from the Ammo Palette by Urban Decay) as I am using a light pink glitter on top so I wanted the violet to come through the glitter.
  • Step 5
Now time to apply the glitter! I have mixed two loose glitters ('Small Town Starlet' and 'Pacific Paradise' loose Glitter by Star Crushed Minerals) as I wanted there to be some contrast. This will really make the eye make up pop even more! With glitter, always remember to use glitter glue, it won't stick on its own.
  • Step 6
Sellotape makes liquid liner so easy, its very hard to mess up this way! Can you see how clean and defined the liner and just generally the whole eye make up look is? Kiko Cosmetics Precision Eyeliner is super easy to create the perfect feline look.

Final Look:
Picture

So there you have it- the final look! As you can see I decided to use some blue liner at the bottom to compliment the blue glitter on the lid. Easiest way to do bottom liner is use a pencil liner such as Double Glam Eyeliner in shade 109 by Kiko Cosmetics or Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Pencil in shade 'Bold Cobalt' really close to the lashes, and then simply use a eyeshadow lighter than the liner colour and brush along the liner until it looks lovely and blended. I used 'Grifter' again.
Nothing better than bold brows and a bold lip colour for the autumn/winter season! I used 'chocolate' brow pomade by Anastasia Beverly Hills, and for the lips I used a mixture of 'Cork' and 'Current' lip liners by M.A.C. Cosmetics.

How To Create The Perfect Pout

11/8/2015

How many of you take no more than 5 seconds to apply your lipstick?

There has been a HUGE craze for the 'perfect pout' since the whole Kylie Jenner lip-job/no-lip-job rumours, but I have to say it taught me a lot about lips too! I absolutely love experimenting with lip colours these days, creating ombre's, sparkly lips, the perfect nude and much much more
Unfortunately I've not been blessed with lovely full lips therefore I thought using my own lips would be great to demonstrate how easy it is to make them look a little bit juicer!
I wanted to show you first what it looks like with just lipstick on its own:
Picture
-My lips don't really look defined, I have small lips as it is so I don't think a bright colour is doing me any favours
- If I wanted to make my lip colour the main focus of my look, its not really standing out! looks quite messy and smudged around the edges.
- Lips look flat and two dimentional
Here is a step-by-step tutorial of how to create those perfect pouty lips without over-lining them to the point they  start looking reeeeally ridiculous!

Step 1 + 2

Step 1 (see below) - Moisterise your lips. Do your usual base regime i.e. foundation, concealer etc. Don't worry too much about round the lips as you'll be using concealer to cover that area later

Step 2 (see below) - Never line your lips with a blunt/semi-blunt liner, make sure its sharp! start lining your lips, don't be afraid to over-line a little bit on the top and bottom edges, as long as it all blends, everything lines up neatly and you're not trying to alter the shape of your lips too much, they won't look fake. Also, don't worry too much about the liner not staying within the lines or looking smudged - concealer will clean that up later

Picture
Step 3 + 4

Step 3 (see below)- Apply your chosen lip colour. I have chosen M.A.C. Cosmetics 'All Fired Up' lipstick (matte) and 'More To Love' lip liner.

Step 4 (see below) - Now for the fun bit! Using a small flat concealer brush and a full coverage concealer, start going around the lips, getting extremely close to the edges of your lips. You will start to see your lip shape looking more defined already
Picture
Step 5 + 6

Step 5 (see below) - Blend the concealer into the skin

Step 6 (see below) - Using a lighter shade of your chosen colour (I have used 'angel' by M.A.C) apply that to just the centre of the lips. This will create an illusion to make your lips look 'fuller'. Finally, find either a clear or a light pink gloss and apply it all over lips.
Picture
AND HERE IT IS! I've added a little highlighter ('Nylon' eyeshadow M.A.C.) on my cupids bow to make them stand out even more. Can you now see the difference between the first and last image?? lips look defined, fuller and more eye-catching. Super super easy to do, and it doesn't require you buying a lot of new products!

Hope this tutorial was helpful, don't forget to comment below to let me know how your attempt went or if you have any questions you want to ask!
